Union Dominate D.C. United in 3–0 Shutout at Subaru Park

April 26, 2025 — Chester, PA
In a rainy afternoon matchup at Subaru Park, the Philadelphia Union put together one of their most complete performances of the season, cruising to a 3–0 win over D.C. United. The victory pushed the Union into second place in the Eastern Conference, while D.C.’s struggles continued.

Glesnes Opens It Up

Jakob Glesnes set the tone early with a thunderous strike in the 15th minute. The center back latched onto a loose ball just outside the box and rifled it into the net, giving Philly a deserved 1–0 lead.

Jean Jacques Makes It Two

Midfielder Danley Jean Jacques continued his hot streak, scoring his second goal in as many matches. In the 52nd minute, he danced past a defender and placed a perfect shot from distance to double the lead and put the game out of reach.

Damiani Seals the Deal

Substitute Bruno Damiani added the finishing touch in the 77th, scoring his first goal of the season with a calm finish to make it 3–0. The Union never looked threatened, dominating possession and chances throughout the second half.

Blake Hits Milestone

Union goalkeeper Andre Blake recorded his 80th career MLS shutout — becoming the second-fastest player in league history to reach the mark. He made five saves on the day and commanded the box with confidence, continuing his elite form.

Final Thoughts

This was as convincing as it gets. Despite the weather, the Union were sharp, clinical, and confident from start to finish. They’ll look to keep that momentum going as they hit the road next week.
